The Lebanese Center for Special Education (CLES) hosted over 250 parents of children with Specific Learning Disabilities for an information and consultation meeting at the Monroe Hotel in Beirut on Saturday November 20th. President of CLES, Mrs. Carmen Chahine Debbane officiated the lively gathering that included discussions where the parents were able to voice their concerns such as the negative stigma attached to learning disabilities in our society, the inability of some teachers to deal with these learning difficulties, and the financial as well as the emotional burdens families face. Tens of CLES experts were on hand to answer questions and concerns including psychologists, speech therapists, psychomotor specialists, and special educators.
The awareness play “What’s Wrong with Me Mom?” was also performed directed by Carlos Chahine. The play has been touring Lebanon for the last 5 years to spread knowledge about Specific Learning Disabilities.
