The Art by CLES grant was founded in November 2020 to support arts in Lebanon during a time of an unprecedented national economic collapse, which was further aggravated by the global COVID-19 pandemic and the largest non-nuclear explosion ever recorded on the planet.

The grant was introduced to support artists on their mission and shed the light on specific learning difficulties in Lebanon and the Arab world.

In its first edition, the full grant will be dedicated to individual Lebanese filmmakers to create a short film. Keeping in line with CLES’s mission, the proposed film must have a direct or indirect link with learning difficulties (dyslexia, dyscalculia, dyspraxia, dysphasia, dysgraphia, ADHD, and many others).

The evaluation process will take place in two stages: a pre-selection by a committee of jurors.

The grant is open to short and medium-length films, fiction, and documentaries.

The Film Project can be presented to the grant by directors or producers living in Lebanon. The project must be attached to a production company and a producer in order to apply.

To assure an equitable distribution of the grant to all the persons working on the film, no money is to be given to individuals.

Project applications are accepted irrespective of age, years of experience, ethnicity, gender, or religion.

Art by CLES provides full grants up to a maximum of fifty thousand U.S. dollars and can cover the full film budget.

All the films must be finished and ready to screen by September 15, 2021.

The official screening will take place on October 10, 2021, the national day for specific learning difficulties, 10.10.DYS.

– For documentary projects, the applicant must submit a full treatment of the film

– For narrative projects, the project must include the final script and treatment.
